These Terms of Service govern your use of CorpusCraft. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using CorpusCraft, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old to use CorpusCraft. By using the service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2. Account Registration and Security

2.1 Account Creation

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and update your account information to keep it accurate
  • Use a valid email address that you regularly access
  • Not create multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes
  • Not share your account credentials with others

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Using a strong, unique password

3. Subscription Plans and Pricing

3.1 Available Plans

CorpusCraft offers tiered subscription plans:

  • Free: 100 AI tokens/month, basic features
  • Academic: 1,000 AI tokens/month (requires academic verification)
  • Researcher: 5,000 AI tokens/month
  • Professional: 25,000 AI tokens/month
  • Institution: 100,000 AI tokens/month, API access, priority support

3.2 Pricing and Payments

Subscription fees are billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice. You are responsible for paying all applicable taxes. Failed payments may result in service interruption.

3.3 AI Token Usage

AI-powered features consume tokens based on analysis complexity. Token allocations reset monthly. Unused tokens do not roll over. You can monitor usage in your account dashboard. Exceeding your token limit will require an upgrade to continue using AI features.

3.4 Refund Policy

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. If you cancel your subscription, you retain access until the end of your current billing period. Academic verification rejections will result in a full refund if requested within 7 days.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload illegal, harmful, or copyrighted content without authorization
  • Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
  • Circumvent usage limits, security measures, or access controls
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without explicit permission
  • Overload or disrupt system infrastructure
  • Resell or redistribute service access without authorization
  • Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Collect user data without consent

5. User Content and Intellectual Property

5.1 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to documents and data you upload. By uploading content, you grant CorpusCraft a limited license to:

  • Store, process, and analyze your documents to provide services
  • Transmit portions to third-party AI services (OpenAI) for analysis features
  • Create derivative works (analysis results, visualizations, exports)
  • Display content to collaborators you authorize

This license terminates when you delete your content or account.

5.2 Content Responsibility

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have rights to upload your content
  • Your content does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights
  • You comply with applicable copyright, trademark, and privacy laws
  • You have necessary permissions for sensitive or personal data

5.3 CorpusCraft Intellectual Property

The CorpusCraft platform, including software, design, logos, and branding, is owned by CorpusCraft and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

6. API Access (Institution Plan)

Institution plan subscribers receive API access subject to these additional terms:

  • API keys are confidential and must be protected
  • Rate limits apply to prevent system overload
  • API access may be revoked for abuse or excessive usage
  • API documentation is provided as-is without warranty
  • Breaking changes will be communicated 30 days in advance when possible

7. Service Availability and Modifications

7.1 Service Availability

CorpusCraft is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." We strive for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages without liability.

7.2 Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or the entire service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for major changes affecting paid subscribers.

8. Data Processing and Third Parties

8.1 OpenAI Processing

AI-powered features send document excerpts to OpenAI for processing. By using these features, you acknowledge that OpenAI processes this data according to their own terms. We implement sampling strategies to minimize data transmission while maintaining quality.

8.2 Data Security

While we implement industry-standard security measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining backups of critical research data.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 No Warranties

CorpusCraft is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

  • The service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • Analysis results will be accurate or complete
  • AI-generated insights will meet your research needs
  • Data will never be lost (maintain backups)

9.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CorpusCraft shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption, arising from your use or inability to use the service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

9.3 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold CorpusCraft harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, violation of these terms, or infringement of third-party rights.

10. Account Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time through account settings. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days (subject to backup retention periods).

10.2 Termination by CorpusCraft

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Fail to pay subscription fees
  • Use the service in a harmful or abusive manner
  • Remain inactive for an extended period

We will provide notice when possible, but reserve the right to terminate immediately for serious violations.

11. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

11.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Israel.

11.2 Informal Resolution

Before initiating formal proceedings, please contact us at support@corpuscraft.org to attempt informal resolution.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to changes, you must terminate your account.

13. General Provisions

13.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CorpusCraft.

13.2 Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

13.3 No Waiver

Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

13.4 Assignment

You may not transfer your rights or obligations. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
